Pier in danger of crumbling away

Wednesday 2 December 2009:

New Quay Town councillor Jennifer Davies has warned that New Quay’s 135 year old pier is in danger of
crumbling into the sea, saying the stone structure is coming apart and in danger of falling down if urgent action is
not taken.
The pier apparently is in a terrible state of disrepair and not much is being done to save or repair it although
some repairs were carried out at the beginning of 2009. Two large stones have recently fallen off with cracks
appearing in places. The Councillor said, the pier is a massive tourist attraction to the village and its
destruction would be a disaster to the local community.
