New Quay's main 'Blue Flag' beach |
Set at the southern end of Cardigan Bay, New Quay is a small
picturesque but popular seaside destination for the whole family.
The village and surrounding area features, expansive safe sandy
beaches, coastal walks and also its family of Bottlenose Dolphins,
that remain here throughout the year. The Ceredigion Coast offers
the opportunity for the nature lover to see the Red Kite glide high
across the cliff tops looking for it's prey, watch the rare species of
sea-life and birds from the lookout post above Birds Rock. Take a
walk along the Ceredigion Coastal Path towards Cwmtydu, take in
the beautiful views out across Cardigan Bay and Ynys Lochtyn

New Quay has the enjoyment of four beaches all within 1 mile
of the village all with good access. The main beach which has
been given a blue flag award has a beach cafe serving hot & cold
drink's, light snack's and most beach accessories, toilets with
disabled access and shower are available at the top of the footpath
that lead's down to the main beach. Ample car parking is available
around the village, all are ticket machines, disabled parking is
available above the main beach but only for two vehicles.

A number of touring and camping sites are available in the
area also caravans/chalets for hire, Bed & Breakfast and
Self catering accommodation are all within easy walking
distance of the village and beach. Plenty of cafes, restaurants
are in the village , fish & chips, Indian and Chinese
take 'a' ways, public houses with gardens for the children
many serving mid-day and evening meals.
The harbour offers good launching facilities for small
craft, deep water moorings for visiting boats are also available.
The area along the Ceredigion coast does not
allow the launch or use of jet-ski’s and from May until the
end of September your four legged friend (dog)
are not allowed on many beaches.

The beach offers safe swimming with RNLI lifeguards on duty throughout the summer . At the far end of the main beach you can tour the lifeboat station and pay a visit to the souvenir shop, open most days from 13.00-17.00 from Easter until late October , purchase the odd nic-nac. Beyond the lifeboat station you can enjoy walks along Treithgwyn beach and out towards Cerreg Ina Reef with its rock pools and Cei Bach, this walk can only be made safely from New Quay at low tide, please find out about the tides first from the harbourmasters office. How to fined us:
From South: leave the M4/A48 at Carmarthen and take the Carmarthen A40 by-pass sign post Llandovery, second roundabout
turn left to next roundabout, turn right A485 for Lampeter/Pencader. On leaving Pencader turn left (2miles) for Llandysul, continue
on the A486 sign post New Quay using the new Llandysul By-Pass, at cross roads( A487), straight across New Quay 4 miles.
From North: via Shrewsbury, Welshpool and Newtown on the A470 to Llangurig turn right at roundabout for Aberystwyth (A44),
follow signs for Cardigan. On leaving Aberaeron (A487) continue towards Cardigan for 4 miles turn right at
Llanarth by the PH Llanina Arms, New Quay approx 3 miles.
