for 2008

Monday 5th May 2008 RNLB 'Frank and Lena Clifford'
The All Weather Lifeboat ‘Frank and Lena Clifford’ launched at 1205hrs when a dive support vessel out of Fishguard Harbour requested assistance 2 mile
off Cardigan Island, 14 mile south of New Quay Head. On arriving it was found that the dive vessel was taking on water due to a deck hose coming away
from engine sea water supply. The lifeboat pumped and cleared the water from the vessels bilge. With the water pipe replaced the dive vessel
returned to Fishguard Harbour, lifeboat returned to station arriving back at 1515hrs. Note: Cardigan Inshore B Class Lifeboat ‘Tanni Grey’ was also
launched to standby and assist if required.

Thursday 17th April RNLB 'Frank and Lena Clifford'
The ALB ‘Frank and Lena Clifford’ was launched at 1730hrs after HM Coastguards Milford Haven received call from a member of the general public that a vessel was seen to be in difficulty off Aberaeron. Coastguards tried to make contact via the VHF, unable to do so, the ALB was launched. The vessel a 10m catamaran on passage to Aberaeron was having difficulty controlling the boat just offshore due to sea conditions. The lifeboat assisted the vessel safely into Aberaeron harbour and returned to New Quay arriving back at 1845hrs. Lifeboat was recovered from the beach the following afternoon (Friday).

Weather: Fair, Winds; ENE 6 – 7, Sea; Moderate to rough, Visibility, good.

Sunday 13th April RNLB 'Frank and Lena Clifford' and ILB 'Amy Lea'
ALB ‘Frank and Lena Clifford’ with ILB ‘Amy Lea’ were paged and launched to assist in a search of the area for a 40year old male and 9year old lad that were reported missing. The search with S.A.R helicopter 122 from RAF Valley, Police ground and air (Helicopter) search teams, Coastguards and mountain rescue team. The lifeboat search continued until 0120hrs when no person or persons were found and the lifeboats returned to station at 0128hr. The ILB was re-housed and the ALB was beached and recovered the following morning (Monday 14th April).
